Catapillar Ward

Is it 4am, or 4pm?

I only know my phone's on 10%

My charger's still at home

And I ate four hours ago

We left in a hurry

My memory's blurry

It's starting to show

And there's a woman on the end chair,

She can't believe it ends there

She's not crying, cause it's worse than that

Her daughter plays with a white toy cat

She doesn't know

(Chorus)

In these long long hallways

Where night and day all feels the same

There are cats on the curtains in the catapillar ward

And there's this strange kind of friendliness

This sickening togetherness

The doctor's got bad news on his clipboard

"I'll be back again," the nurses say,

But I think they've all gone away

I need a change of clothes

But they've not said that we can go

Has it been an hour

Has it been a minute

Ask someone who knows

And a man asked for new bedspreads

His son is in the end bed

The nurses said they'll sort them

But it's been a day and they've not brought them

That's how it goes

(Chorus)

And the weather could be doing anything and I wouldn't know at all

Cause the window's twenty feet up and it only shows a wall

This building's full of life and death

Someone just took their first/last breath

And it all smells so clean but it doesn't smell fresh

(Chorus)
